Windsurf became Devin Desktop
On June 2, 2026, Cognition announced that Windsurf had been rebranded to Devin Desktop. The IDE that developers knew as Windsurf is now part of the Devin product line. Cognition acquired Windsurf and merged it into their existing AI engineering platform.
Devin Desktop launches with support for the Agent Client Protocol, a multi-agent Kanban view, and a rewritten local agent called Devin Local. The product is positioned as a command center for managing cloud and local agents, not as a standalone code editor with a traditional free trial.
Free trials ended with the rebrand
Devin Desktop moved to a subscription model. The free tier offers a light quota with limited model availability. Paid plans start at $20 per month for the Pro tier and $200 per month for the Max tier. There is no time-limited free trial in the way that Windsurf previously offered one.
Onyx Pro was built to clear supported trial and onboarding data stored on the local machine. That model depends on a vendor offering a free trial that can be exhausted or blocked by local state. When the vendor replaces free trials with a freemium subscription, the cleanup target disappears.
Why support was removed instead of kept
Keeping a Windsurf page would create the wrong expectation. Users would arrive looking for a trial cleanup path that no longer exists. Support would spend time explaining a mismatch that the website could have prevented.
Removing the page and redirecting the old URL to this explanation keeps the route map honest. The current product pages point users toward tools that still fit the local cleanup model.
What stays in Onyx Pro
Onyx Pro continues to support IDEs with clear local trial and onboarding behavior.
- Kiro
- Trae
- Warp
- Antigravity
- Codex
Windsurf support is removed so the product stays narrow and predictable.
How support decisions are made
A supported tool needs a clear local behavior that Onyx Pro can explain, test, and support. If the value depends mostly on vendor-side account changes, remote eligibility, or paid plan logic, it does not fit the cleanup model.
- There must be supported local state to clean up on the user's computer
- The expected side effects must be explainable before install
- The vendor's accounts, credits, subscriptions, and terms must remain separate
- Support must be able to tell users what information helps troubleshoot the integration
Windsurf addon access
Users who purchased the Windsurf addon retain access to it within their Onyx Pro license. If Windsurf or a successor product reintroduces a free trial model that fits the cleanup scope, the addon may be reactivated. No refunds are issued for addon purchases. This is consistent with the Onyx Pro terms of service, which state that all purchases are final and non-refundable except where required by law.
Onyx Pro is not responsible when a vendor changes its trial model, pricing structure, or product direction. Vendor decisions about free access, subscriptions, and account eligibility remain outside the scope of the product.
What users should do instead
If you use Devin Desktop today, follow the Devin pricing and plan flow directly. If you are evaluating a tool that Onyx Pro still supports, use the dedicated supported-tool page so you can see the scope, limits, and expected local cleanup behavior first.
